The goal of the Swift River Run Club is to grow children's confidence and promote a healthy lifestyle all while emphasizing qualities such as hard work, persistence and resilience. The SRRC participants include students and staff at Swift River School as well as parents, caregivers and members of the community. Participants track the miles they have walked or run on a weekly basis and are incentivized every 25 miles with t shirts, pencils, stickers and custom medals upon reaching 100 miles. This program gives students time during school to be active walking laps and also motivates them to continue being active in non-school hours. We raise money in order to offer this program at the lowest possible cost to families. We use the money raised to purchase the incentive items and also to host events throughout the year to give the kids extra opportunities to get miles. This is the 12th year of the program.
