The Wendell Fullmoon Coffeehouse features the regions’ renowned Myrtle Street Klezmer Band NEXT SATURDAY March 7 at 7:30 pm at Wendell Town Hall. Myrtle Street Klezmer’s high-energy music draws on Balkan, Greek, Arabic, Rock, and Jazz music, in addition to favorites from the classic and contemporary Klezmer repertoire.
Doors open at 7 pm, show starts with open mic at 7:30. Admission is a sliding scale of $7 to $20 (CASH ONLY at the door). Kids 12 & under are free!
Myrtle Street Klezmer is an ecstatic exploration into the past, present, and future of Klezmer music and the traditional celebratory music of the Ashkenazi Jews, led by clarinetist, Jason Ditzian, formerly of San Francisco-based Kugelplex. The band sings in Yiddish, Hebrew, and Ladino, and teaches audiences about the meaning of the music and culture. Myrtle Street is an ensemble of masterful musicians including Myk Freedman on strings, of the Brooklyn and Toronoto music scenes; Doug Plavin on percussion, a renowned musician having played with the likes of Dar Williams ∓ John Scofield to name a few; Bea Maxwell on vocals ∓ accordion; and Jesse Olsen Bay, on vocals, bass, bouzouki & percussion. https://www.myrtlestreetklezmer.com/
