7 Mar 22, 2008 Girl Howdy

Local all girl vintage honky-tonk & country-swing band.

Come and dance the night away!

GIRL HOWDY, something of an enigma in New England, yet that's where this combo makes its headquarters, spilling out roots hillbilly-swing & old-school country ballads while on their impassioned mission to keep the torch held high and burning bright for the great American honky-tonk songbook. The material is haunting and timeless, yet instantly appealing and accessible, which seems to hit an enthusiastic nerve with their audiences. Whoops, yells and whistles are not uncommon amongst Girl Howdy concert goers - a fact that can't seem to be helped, as it's quite evident the gals themselves are hogwild for the music they play. They lay down an infectious groove, while piling on rich vocal harmonies, with instrumentation that includes steel guitar, piano, upright stringbass, flat-top guitar, drums and the occasional fiddle.
